Infundibulum #2.1

The second in the devious Sound Dust series of multi-arp workstations. A gloriously grimey playground of poly rhythmical possibilities with an open door policy for unexpected artefacts and happenstance.

Infundibulum #2.1 contains 3 x 60 sound sources (216,000 combinations), 270+ snapshots…but INFUNDIBULUM is all about tweaking

Infundibulum #2.1 - Polyrhythmic Cascades of Sound & Warped Loops

INFUNDIBULUM#2 – takes the polyrhythmic cascades of sound, strange interlocking tremolos and beautiful warped loopings of her big sister into bigger bolder territories – great for organic and gorgeous pseudo orchestras, wibbly wobbly dust pads, muscular Michael Nyman swoon and epic thrusting cinematica.

INFUNDIBULUM#2 is packed with 4GB of bowed, sung, spun, plucked, stretched, teased and blown things that have been squashed through tape, vinyl, springs and valves for the character and audio patina of a life well lived.

INFUNDIBULUM#2 is not intended to authentically replicate any of the sounds included, some have been deeply multi sampled and others are deliberately stretched across a wider key span than is sensible. The samples all have very obvious loop points. The whole point of Infundibulum is to embrace and celebrate the artefacts that occur when sampling goes too far. Hold a chord, any chord, and you will hear the different notes start to cycle back on themselves in disjointed but glorious ways that you will never hear from a gazillion gigabyte hypersampled piano, crumhorn or orchestral calabash.

Then add in the amazing multi-arp, 3 sounds repeating through different length cycles at different speeds, and you are halfway to an out-of-body experience.

The sampled Instruments

Dust piano, Lowry organ, Winfield organ, many many electric guitars, household paint brush, violin played by a proper violinist, trumpet played by an improper trumpeter, concert whirly tubes, Jecklin disc, 4 track cassette recorder, taut wires, Sherman Filterbank, spring reverbs, Space Echo, Roland SH101, Hammond Organ, a singing human, ribbon mics and broken electrics, guitar pedals set to 11, harmonica, recorders (school not tape this time), Moog theremin, many modular modules, Clouds, Strymon Big Sky and Deco, Roger Linn Adrenalinn 3, home-made guitars, electric milk whisk and home-made pickups…
